Apparently soya is one of the largest contributors to amazonian de-forestation, since rainforest is being cleared to create arrable land to grow soya fast enough to keep up with demand.

Whatever its benefits, it is absolutely disgusting. Some people would have you believe that soya is the only way. In spite of the fact that for thousands upon thousands of years the human race managed without it.
