i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

He was filming in the ocean for his new documentary when a stingray pierced its barb into Steve's heart. There was no time to save him cause the stingray made a hole in his heart, he died before they could get to the hospital!!
I can't belive he died, he was only 44 and has two son's and a wife.

Hey, he was filming near the barrier reef ( believe to be filiming for his daughters new tellevision show ) 15kms away from port douglas in australia,
At 11.00 He was close to a sting ray and it must've felt threatened, so it swung around and flicked its tail( which has a sharp barb) and it impaled Steve in the chest, hitting his heart, He managed to pull the barb out according to his best mate that was there, and then he was " gone "..
They rushed him back to their ship called Croc1, and then tried furiously to revive him, they were travelling to shore to meet a helicopter, but he was already deceased. His body was then taken to a Cairns hospital for an autopsy, and his body is now being flown back to his wife and family..

Imagine having the strength to actually pull the barb out of your own heart. The pain must have been unendurable. He must have the stamina of superman to have done so! Too bad he had so little intelligence for a family man to be taking such risks. Now his children and wife have to suffer because he failed to think of them and to stop this life which was no longer just his!
