I think that Steve Irwin deserves a state funeral because he touched many Australians as well as people in other countries. He did a lot for Australia international image around the world and was the embodiment of the Australian Larrikin. He also should be recognized by the state because of the work that he did for the Australian environment and reversing it for future generations. He was a great Australian and should never be forgotten.

It would certainly open the door for other State funerals for popular celebrities, and at public expense. So I can see that there would be alot of ill feelings from the 'other' segment of the population - the segment that no matter how they feel about the deceased, they nevertheless don't want to fund a funeral.

yup... i think so as he pass on alot of knowledge to us which we do not learn from the books!!
and he have helped in the economy of his country.. ( attract tourists)
