When you pre-pay for your gas, the attendant sets the pump. Depending on the station the pumps seems to click off anywhere from 25-50 cents early, yet the numbers continue to roll to the amount paid. Are you still getting gas or ripped off for 25+ cents each time? Am I going to have to say I want more than I do, then have to go back in the station for my change each time?

Yes, you are getting your fuel. The dispenser cuts off the fast- flow several cents before the pre-paid amount so that it doesn't run over. If the fuel pumped fast until the set amount... the valve shuts.... fuel will still run past it... It uses a two stage valve that can be found in every style of modern gas dispenser.

Here is a little known fact: The slower you pump your fuel... the more you will get. the meters are designed to regulate 10 gal. per min.

The pump starts going real slow but u still get gas for your money. By the way some stations give a big discount for gas cards, like Marathon in my area. If u buy a $100 card you get $104.

Nope you are not getting ripped off. The pump is set to slow down shortly before the amount that has been set... so it still is filling right up to the point of your $10.00

However, I can not say for certain that the pump you USE is ripping you off or not... try another garage?

You aint being ripped... It is made to slow down and work that way. btwn if u check closely at the pump.. It is certified by States' Weights and Measures Dept.

I work in a gas station and the amount we sell is proportionate to the level of gas we have in the tank, we set it right for you...

The pump stops pumping at full pressure. You feel/hear the pump slow down and it creeps towards your full $10 purchase.

I am sure it does. The pumps are regulated by the States' Weights and Measures Dept.

You're just being impatient. The pump automatically slows down at -.25 or thereabouts. Just pull on the trigger again for the last bit.

I think you are getting ripped off too, the pump should click off at $10, unless it is moving very slowly until it reaches $10.
