Yes, very much so! A lot of the drawings and artwork I make is based on some dream or even a random thought! Since your subconcious takes over when you sleep, it creates random ideas or situations that appear lifelike, but only for about three seconds, however long they might feel like. Some of these three second clips stay lodged in your memory, and are recalled when you create something. At least thats my theory.

As far as I know dreams are only our memories, remixed and distorted by our brain. It creates dreams in order to confront some fears or emotions and so to speak sort the information. From this point of view it has nothing to do with creativity.
But on the other hand dreams, which often bring us some bizarre, distorted visions, which normally we could not imagine, could be a great source of inspiration, as long as we remember our dreams.
To sum up I think dreams could hold great potential of creativity by giving some inspiration (for some people, because not all the people remember their dreams, although it's said that everyone has some).

It is possible but first, you have to be able to retain the dream to memory which more often than not doesn't happen.

Many creative works have been inspired by dreams but in truth, potential for creativity is anywhere. Just stay open to inspiration and it will find you, whether it be through dreams or just watching the first flower of spring.

To me, potential refers to the ability of accomplishing much if given enough time. If an artist can create a good piece of music with very limited resources, it shows that he can do much better once he has been handed a band, proper equipment etc.

Absolutely, sometimes you can't think of anything due to distraction. Dreams are our subconscious mind, and they are hidden. Once they come out in our dream, you will never know what we get.

Depends on the dream, and whether you remember it. Some dreams can create a wet patch on your sheets...
