Before you answer, I ask only that you accept all accounts of reported abductions, visits, and sightings as genuine events from normal and sane ppl. Please suspend your dis-belief in UFOs and Extra Terrestrial Aleins.

universitymo... you actually make my point better than I. Only minor diff's - their mind-set is/was not ours (no desire or need to live here) they do not agree to educate us (after hundreds of years of watching, contrasted with a chance meeting, why would they want us free to move about in their neighborhoods?) they know we cannot build a 'ship' to leave with, the only threat we pose is to ourselves (no need to kill any body) Substitute Brits for ET's, humans for Native Americans, and there we are! Quarantined, I believe, on a kind of reservation.

Oh I certainly believe that there are some flying objects which are unidentified. That doesn't necessarily prove they're of extraterrestrial origin, nor does it disprove it.

As to abductions and visits, THOSE would require more proof for me.

Earth is a quarantine, huh? Quarantined by whom and for what purpose? How would that be performed? Seems to me that we've already tossed a significant number of spacecraft some distance from Earth, and many still work exactly as designed. Wouldn't a quarantine include such vehicles as well?

Hey let's assume there are species out there who have the ability to travel the unbelievable distances betwee the stars. Here are your possibilities.

1. They are technologically advanced to the point that travelling at speeds many times faster than the speed of light or they have found a route around breaking the "light" barrier such as the use of wormholes. If this was the case that race would be so advanced that the human race...would have to seem unimportant. I think we would be arrogant to say that we would pose any technological risk to require a quarantine. On the other hand...we are very dangerous to ourselves. Greed, arrogance, hatred and the like run freely and relatively unchecked on our planet...sure there are also love, kindness and the things that we hold to be the good in humanity, but those things are more often overshadowed by our primitive side. If was a member of an advanced alien race looking down on the universe...I could definitely see why Earth would be placed under a "Universal" Quarantine. Anyone visiting this planet would have to be an equivalent of our "Crocodile Hunter." This is NOT a reference to his recent death, that was tragic, but he spent his career effectively playing with the most dangerous of species.

2. We got out of our solar system without finding other life forms...much less intelligent life...we've found that the closest stars do not have sufficient iron to create a carbon based life supportably planet in their systems...what happens if we explore the edge of our galaxy and find nothing? Maybe this is arrogance...but WHAT IF...the odds of intelligent conscious life are so low that it took the universe until now to create the conditions by chance? Not saying we're the only ones that will ever be...but what if we are the first...and it took the universt this long to bring us about? It's a worthy theory i think. Don't get me wrong...i sincerely hope that we aren't alone...I wish that there was someone out there with the knowledge to save us from ourselves...but then again...I really wish we could just do it on our own. Come to an understanding that there are bigger things than wealth and power...unfortunately i fear that I will only see it get worse...

Well let's look at this hypothesis through the lens of our own experience, since that is all we have to work with.

When the Western World came upon the Americas, did we quarantine the Indians, or simply destroy their civilization?

Well, actually the Brits let some tribal leaders come to England, where they were given Oxford Educations. However some British Lords spoke against the practice, and supported the basic wish of the settlers to kill off the tribes and keep them in squalor. I suppose if they had been free thereafter to return to their own countries and build ships that would have granted them some credence of ownership of the Americas, so you see there were political implications.

In the end we know what happened. The baser desires of the settlers were supported and the 500 nations were suppressed and killed off in huge numbers.

If aliens did indeed come here, and they found our world livable (which would imply some similarities to us as species), perhaps a similar patern of behaviour might be expected.

You had to know I was going to answer this question. To a large extent this would be true because of the possibilities of cross contamination. The bodies these so called ET's are in might be some form of a disposable physical body. There are so many theories and stories anything seems plausible at this point. We are already aware of remote viewing but haven't heard about the Next step called remote control viewing or what some would refer to as being possessed by another being. Some of this might be done with implants and devises planted in various places of our planet. Some of which might be in religious icons or objects such as the Arch of the Covenant in a hidden panel or churches. Some star trek and other sci-fi shows have alluded to this as a popular medium to exploit control over sub species. You should know that people who might have any credible knowledge or experiences would be labeled or manipulated as being insane. It is ironic that most people of a religious background will refer to any information on ET's as insane or of the devil. But there are more and more who ride the fence on this subject. Google video has a few of these that are interesting to watch if you have the patience. The truth as they might say is beginning to reveal itself or rear it's ugly head. It's pretty sad that we've been kept in the dark for so long as if we didn't matter like lab animals or something similar. There's so much we could have accomplished over the past two hundred years or more that we may have had a utopian society or a heaven on earth by this time.

Quarantining a planet, or limiting their expansion, is only done if they establish a self sustaining presence off planet and have not given up god concepts. We cannot allow a species to infect other species with such foolishness. Your planet doesn't have to worry about this happening, however. Over the centuries, your planet was a curious place to visit once or twice and was not considered very interesting . Sure, your wars showed us how undeveloped you are as a species and your infantile,(in cosmic terms) dependence on god concepts does not bode well for you. We are now showing an interest in you because it is not often that we get to observe a species commit suicide. You are so close to maturing as a sentient species and it will be a shame to see you kill yourselves. There are just not enough of you becoming rational enough to force the issue. You let the least among you determine your fate, so be it.

This is one possible resolution to the Fermi Paradox. Hard to imagine however that the quarantine would be obeyed by everyone, (yes, I attribute human like characteristic to hypothetical aliens; it isn't like I have anything else to work with) or that beings with a highly superior technology who want to remain hidden would sometimes fail to do so.

Read about the Fermi Paradox: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fermi_paradox

(my favorite resolution to the Fermi Paradox is that space faring intelligence is rare enough that we are first, rather than the more depressing "interstellar colonization is impossible for one reason or another." )

It is in quarantine. It takes 4 light years to reach us assuming some one is there.

This idea appeals to me. It is something like the "Prime Directive" in the Star Trek series, only we are the ones on the receiving end. How droll!

Your theory could be true as much as the assumption that there are no aliens visiting earth under cover, or several other theories/rumors. so believe in whatever is your fancy.
