I want to turn some old cassette recordings into CDs.

Please come up with a simple solution as I am not very technical.

You would need a patch cord from your player to the line in on your sound card. Its then just a matter of using your sound recorder in windows. Its in programs, accessories, entertainment. You may also need to open sound properties once its up and select your sound card. This can be done by clicking the edit tab and sound properties.

I have a very cheap small MP3 player (they're all over the place now for £15-30 ish) which also acts as a dictaphone and a memory-stick.
The voice records are stored as MP3's so you could then write them to CD's. The quality may be bad, but you could put those groovy old tunes on your ipod too!

Get a cable from hifi into sound card and try Audacity - free software that'll record into mp3.

I've had success with Steinberg 'Clean', but there are loads of others, some will be free downloads.
