Absolutely not. The banana republic label goes far back, before many smaller countries were industrialized. Italy is old and sophisticated. We are grateful for its opera, art, architecture not to mention pasta and and pizza. Avanti.

What is a banana republic but yet another "label". A country (any) is as dynamic and changing as its people. Most countries still "wear" labels they have already outgrown.
