transmission has horrible take off and when cold sounds like a school bus after warming up it drives alright the take off is still weak but the school noise comes and goes no engine light comes on so no codes to read

converted meaning the engine, transmission and OBD system are no longer OBD 1 but OBD 2 and it is Automatic. 4.3 vortec.

I bought this vehcle like this and that is what i was told when reading the codes code read o2 sensor i changed and code went away. The vehicle was pre-converted so in other words it used to have 95 engine and parts but now has the equivelant of 96-06 parts...

It sounds like a bearing in the tranny is bad. When you converted the transmission did you replace the pilot bearing? You just said converted, you didn't mention how: like from standard to auto or the reverse. Without knowing what type of tranny if is hard to say why your take off is weak. What did come to mind like I mentioned earlier is thaht a pilot bearing may have been left out in the conversion.

When you say "converted", I assume it was formerly a manual and you converted to an automatic. Sounds like it could be a bad or wrong torque converter that doesn't achiever proper clearances until it warms up. It could also be the vanes in the oil pump are bad. Can't pinpoint for you without further information on the type of unit you installed and other necessary details.
