Didn't they give you a stick to bite on?
Sure, it's nicer to be "knocked out" but it is impractical. Enough patients have side effects and stick around because of side effects or take a long time to wake.
We only knock out the people who really need to be knocked out.
Otherwise your surgeon will probably have used local anaesthetic.
After the initial tiny jab (like a blood test only in a sensitive area!) I didn't feel a thing. Must have been me biting on the stick!

I have, and they do give you anesthesia. Mine was an intrvaneous injection followed by a drip. Wasn't a problem at all until it wore off a couple hours later, then of course there is some soreness, but they give you pain pills for that. Just take it easy for a day or two and you'll be fine.
Find a doctor that will give you the type of anesthesia YOU want, not the kind he wants.

I had a vasectomy about six weeks ago and i felt little to no pain. They do use a local anesthetic. They numb the whole area the only pain you feel is a slight burn from the initial needle. You are awake but your laying down and you can't really see what they are doing it only takes anywhere from ten minutes to thirty. Don't worry about it it is quite painless and well worth it. Afterwards you don't really hurt for a couple days all until the anesthetics wear off then it jsut feels like you got kicked in the balls the day before they are a little tender and you have that sick feeling in your stomach slightly but it goes away after a day or two.

It's really not a big deal. If you have ever had a tooth pulled, it feels the same, only it's "down there." They give you a lydocaine shot, then you feel some pushing and pulling, but not really pain. It is wierd seeing the smoke though. I found that Naproxen Sodium (Aleve) worked OK for the after-discomfort that lasted a couple of days. If you are normally a boxer guy, you'll want to go with jockeys for a couple of days after.

I had one several years ago.... Not a big deal... just make sure you don't want to have any kids later on. Yes they use anesthesia and for the most part is painless. It does smart at first when they administer the anesthesia, but soon subsides.
Afterward make sure you keep your testicals on ice to help swelling. It can get a little painful then, but again.. not bad.
Glad I had one.... and yes... I'd do it all over again

i have, and yeah, they give u a local anesthetic. Unfortunately, the doc doing mine didn't give the lidocaine quite enough time to take full effect. He started to cut, I turned white, started sweating profusely and yelled. He said, "Is it pain, or pressure?" I said, "I know your CUTTING ME!!!!" He gave it a few more minutes, and then I felt nothing. When he cauterized, I saw smoke coming from down there, and had to joke by saying, "I have had that thing smoking before, but never literally!!"
bit sore for a couple days after....then, totally fine!
