i.e. cat food to the dog or dog food to the cat or gerbil food to the ferret?

Yeah, bill_j I'm thinking the same. Heck, you look at the label and as much of the ingredients one can pronounce it seems all the same.

No, I don't. They label the food for different animals for a reason - although I can't help the fact that my dog's like to sneak a snack of catfood; I don't purposely feed them other animals food.

We feed our ferrets kitten kibble. (Which was what was recommended before ferrets became so popular that actual ferret food was carried in stores.) The ingredients and percentages are verrry similar, and I've never heard any complaints from our fuzzies!

No. For every pet I have ever had, I've researched the unique dietary needs of each. For health & longevity, and general happiness, only feed your animals what is meant specifically for them.

no i don't. some foods that aren't meant for that animal can make them really sick. Just stick to giving cat food to cats, dog food to dogs, etc.

Yes, I feed my cat fish, but did you ever see a cat fishing?? They can't even stand to go in the water!!

I give my cats tuna fish and sardines. They like that. When we get meat for dinner (if I can rememeber what that is) we give them some..
And one of my cats, even eats potato chips. He doesn't get many but... once in a while..When we get chips and dip.. I'll give him a potato chip.

For years, I fed Puppy Chow to my mynah bird - she loved it and was healthy for 10 years.
As soon as I switched over to Mynah Food, she died.
