You can express it in vector form:

We know north-west makes 135 degree or (3pi/4) radian with x axis so:

F= 500cos(135)i+500sin(135)j

F=-353.553i+353.553j

Draw a line in the north-west direction (up and to the left) from any point on your paper. Draw a small arrowhead on the north-west end of the line. Make the arrowhead small and neat. Label the line "500 N" and you're done.

(Or should I say, incorrectly, your done?)
