It's sad. I feel so bad for his family. And the conservation efforts he made. His girl was only 8 and the boy was only 3. To think of these kids growing up without a Dad. And he was so young! He was only 44. Younger than me! It's so terrible what happened.
I heard he was swimming on top of a sting ray when it shot its barb into him. They normally do this when they feel threatened so it could have been another fish or something that swam in front of it to make it feel cornered...
I wonder what will happen now? If his wife will continue his conservation efforts, the t.v. show or drop it and let someone else pick it up.

I Live In England So Only Received The Tragic News Late Yesterday Australia Time. To Say I Was Shocked Is An Understatement Of Gigantic Proportions. I Felt Numb And Thought They Must Be Talking About Someone Else, Stevo Couldn't Have Been Killed And By A Sting Ray Of All Things. It Couldn't Be True. I Watched And Listened On Still Numb And Then The Confirmation Came. Steve Irwin Dead Stung Through Heart By Sting Ray Barb While Filming Etc.
All I Can Say Is God Bless You Steve, You Were A True Leader Your Public Will Miss You Dearly.

IT is a sad incident...I am glad it didn't happen on "LIVE" TV...which a lot of naturalists usually do....and I am glad it didn't happen in front of his dear wife and his kids...that Bindi is going to take this pretty hard...poor little thing...she was awfully close to her dad. About four months ago...someone made a comment that Steve Irwin had died...and turns out that it wasn't even true...and now this happened...I am sure people wondered for a bit until the whole news just broke out big!!! I am a little ashamed of those who wrote any comments regarding to that hoax.
They always have a saying that they hope they would die doing what they love to do the most...Sure looks like Steve had his hope...Only thing is I thought he would die by his beloved favorite animals, crodile/alligaltor. I was surprise that it was a stigray...and what a strong whiptail it had to pierce his heart. :o( I know there will be a lot of people in Austrailia and all of the world that knows him for what he does..will miss him. I feel bad that I didn't respect him as much as I did... I was wrong to laugh at his goofy talk and the way he expressed his knowledge in a very kiddling way...I had much rather watch Jeff Corwin over him!!!! As I was watching some of the shows they were playing over on the Animal Planet...I did realized that Steve did indeed had a very strong heart for animals...he had great passion for alligators...calling them beauties/bruts. Who would actually call them beautiful or handsome??? He had a passion to teach little kids as well as adults everything he knew about the alligators...crocadiles...snakes...all the other animals he came across....There are very many of them who have deeply appreciated STeve's time to be there for them...and teech them great things about these animals. I believe that God gave Steve a true blessing to be a gator man that he was. it is hard to understand why God takes people the way he does...but he does this for a good purpose and not to hurt you in the end...so in the end...Terri, and his two beaufiful kids will be blessed soon in their lifetime when it comes to their awesome dad!! I pray that God willl wipe their tears..and hold them tightly to his love...and help them. Many thank you and hugs to you Steve for your awesome presentations of our beautiful animals that we need to appreciate more than we should these days.

It's a dreadful tragedy. Steve Irwin steered me towards the mysteries of wildlife which I had little interest in previously. I was mesmerised by his dedication to every area of wildlife and enjoyed watching any programs he produced. At first I thought it was all a bit "over the top" but I soon realised I was the idiot. He was born to have contact with the wild & unfortunately he was unlucky to have sustained a freak but fatal injury. My heart goes out to Terri, Bindi & Bob who I'm sure will have many fond memories of their husband & father.

It's like a death of a hero, I never expected that something like this could happen to Steve Irwin. He was an inspiration for me and my friends. I always admired His courage and knowledge.

I'm still stunned that he is actually dead...I actually thought that it was a joke at first. It's amazing what can happen in the fraction of a second; one minute he was filming, the next he was dead. My heart goes out to him and his family - they were all so incredibly close. I imagine that they will make the zoo into some sort of memorial for him; he put his heart and soul into making the world aware of these animals. He was an amazing conservationist, zoologist, and all around wonderful man; many will miss him dearly.

My heart goes out to his family. I went numb when I heard. Never met the guy or even went to his zoo but he did a lot for animals and educating people. I have a lot of respect for people that are that passionate about what they do for a living. He will always be remembered and his work will be continued. I can hear him letting out an almighty 'Crikey!' at the pearly gates. May he rest in peace.

I feel very sad and sorry that he has left us. He was sent to do a job on this earth and he has done that job, now he is an angel looking after animals in heaven, but he will NEVER leave us as his legacy is his daughter Bindy Sue, he taught her everything there is to know about conservation and wildlife, she will take over from where Steve left off. MAY YOU REST IN PEACE STEVE, YOU WILL BE SADLY MISSED BY ALL !!!!!!!!! GOD BLESS YOU !

The worst thing that heard when I woke up in the morning was Steve's death. It was a great shock to me.The greatest and liveliest man on earth who brought joy AND happiness to the people, not only around him but all over the world is gone now. I tried not to cry but at last I couldnt stop myself. I always looked forward to meet him. But now its all over. Now I can only meet him after I die. That too, If I go to heaven. I wont be able to meet him If I go to hell.

Steve Irwin was the champion of wildlife conservation. Very few people with a passion for nature ever reach the kind of stardom he achieved. His passion kindled interest in nature like no other individual. Good 'ay Steve, thanks mate!
