Yes, obesity does affect the child's social life. Children can be very cruel. This obese child will have to endure name calling, separation from sports or activities he/she can't due because of size. He/she will not be chosen for anything to participate in because of size. Clothing will not be age appropriate due to obese size. Eating with other children will be a cruel experience due to obesity comments. In general, his/her self-esteem will be whittled down until it becomes a problem. Even with the most outgoing personality, it will change due to size of this child.
I will also say that an obese child does not say to much for the parent also. How and why would a parent put a child through the cruelty of growing up obese? If it is a medical condition, then that's different, but still can be controlled. Some parents think it's cute, or an oh well matter. But they are not the ones who face the cruel comments on a day to day basis with other children. You can only ignore them off for so long.
Now, should I mention about the health of this child? What the heart must endure for a young obese child.

Obesity would definitely affect a child's social life. The child will get alienated from other student at school, as well as children from the playground. Also, the hurtful and cruel names that they are called will lower their self esteem and just upset them so very much.

Of course it does. Think back to when you were in school and there was a kid that was bigger than the rest. I had a friend who was obese in school and she was picked on so badly she would always go home and cry. And that still happens........I see it now in my Scout troop and it is very damaging to the child. Doesn' t seem that an adult can say anything to help. And just because they will make fun of themselves.........is because they would rather do so than have someone else. They have feelings also.

Yeah, I think so. Obese kids get picked on and they sometimes struggle to make friends, so either they turn into lonely desperate people or they become bullies to make up for the hurt they feel. This is not always they case, but it happens a lot

without a doubt. other children do not realise the effect that bullying and teasing has on an obese child. so this results in them not having self confidence and usually limits friendships for them. it's really tough.

Yes, it does. It makes them feel inferior to their peers who are more smarter than they are and as a result they become timid in certain places, mostly the playground

yes. Someone overweight will always feel alone. My best friend is slightly overweight and she doesn't feel she can go out shopping or whatever with me or anyone else. People will aLWAYS notice if someone is overweight and human nature dictates they stare. It can't feel nice and it makes them insecure.
