Yes. Definitely.
Majority wants to be incognito. There is every reason to be so, for it is safer not to be ridiculed by someone who wants to pass a funny crack or is not happy with your question and takes the vent on you. On the positive side one gives better and frank answers if the real identity is concealed. One opens up his or her mind in the avatar more freely. Imagine you are on a stage giving a public speech. Can you be as fluent, nonchalant and articulate as you are in your Yahoo answers with an avatar? Can you put the same question as above to those in avatars? No, I don't think so.

Why deal with comeback, if you aren't ready for a direct answer then don't go on and ask the question. So people who are offended shouldn't be a part of this.
Well looking at your picture you are, to scared to show your face or what? Isn't having a picture like yours the same as having an avatar? Well, I don't think you have the cuts to show your identity or share contact detail so why expect others to.
My real name is Bethany and I live in Germany Munich, now you.

Why assume the worst? What you say could very well be true, but....I for one would not want my face out there simply because there are so many FREAKS in the world. I wouldn't want to be stalked, harrassed or killed simply because someone disagreed with my stance on any given situation.
So it's not a case of feeling braver, it's about feeling safer.

i suppose if there was a photo you actually feel like your talking to a real person, but my answers would still be the same, but i think some of the wierd people you get on here hide behind the avatar it would be nice to see more of peoples faces..

I wouldn't want to use a photo of myself. I prefer the anonimity.
The answers would remain the same though.
I don't often go back to questions to see if I've got abuse..
Don't mind either way.
It's just that you do get perves and other weirdos on here.
Why folks put photos of naked babies and their children on is amazingly yuk.

I would still give the same answers, but it's dangerous to put your personal details and your photos on the web, who knows what maniacs there are on the internet, trying to use your photos for whatever purposes....

My avatar is pretty much what I look like. I don't post my contact details because people will stalk and harass you. There are MANY sick people on line.
