what type of oil...motor oil, olive oil, butter etc? Get clean brown paper bag and put it over the stain then iron over the bag for a few secs (it should pick up the grease) keep moving the bag around so your using a clean bit of it each time and repeat until it lifts all of the stain out.

I have two remedies that I personally use. One, the easiest to come by is to pretreat the stain with a good grease release dish detergent like "dawn", but any brand will do. Another, if the oil is fresh is to sprinkly baby powder or corn starch on the oil spot. The powder absorbs the oil. They both work for me.

Basic liquid dawn and a soft bristle toothbrush or nail brush is great.
Use as a pre wash but don't let the stain dry between treatments if it takes more than once or twice to remove it.
