Nearly everyone drinks alcohol It is supposed to be so much more shocking to take drugs. But a medical book I read a long time ago makes the point that alcohol is just a type of drug in liquid form. And what is so terrible to want to feel a bit of happiness in this sad, scary world? Not all people kill or go crazy on drink or drugs, plenty of idiots do it anyway.People who have a drink seem to think they are more virtuous because so called government leaders decree that only drug takers are "bad".It is all mind altering stuff anyway....

Smart Lady....Having done my share of drinking and drugs in my day. It is safe to say that alcohol is one of the worst drugs there is. Let's not forget that at one time in our nation's history, alcohol was made illegal and people went to great lengths to drink(a sure sign of addictive qualities). It is also responsible for organized crime here and more deaths per year are related to it than any other drug. It is also a drug where you can go into unconsciousness (blackouts) and keep going....DANGEROUS. Marijuana isn't like that. You're only going to get so stoned and then it doesn't affect you anymore. Drinking also makes you more abusive (redneck, liquid courage). I'm not trying to talk any drug up here...I'm completely sober and loving it, but alcohol was probably the hardest drug to quit. Of all the guys I use to party with, most of them turned into alcoholics. Be smart....realize that you don't have to be out of it to have a good time and there are no real friends when drugs (alcohol) are involved.

Even in rehab the drunks think they are better than the drug addicts. My policy, if a person likes to drink, they are not my kind of person to associate with. Because yes, alcohol and drugs are the same thing.

How about gluttony? That seems to be an acceptable behaviour these days. Eat until you pop. Weight 300 pounds, it's OK. No, it isn't. It is the same as any other addiction.

So, if you use drugs once in a while to relax, no harm done, right? Same as having a cocktail.

Moderation is a lost virtue these days.

Well, I don't know about all drugs - but I know weed is not as bad as alcohol. Weed doesn't attack your liver and it's not addictive, it doesn't give you a hangover, it doesn't make people mean. You don't have to go to detox when you decide not to use it for a few weeks.

The hard drugs are different, though. You can get terribly addicted and die trying to get off them (true of alcohol, as well). Hallucinogens can make you do things to hurt yourself and others - even more so than alcohol does. And hard drugs do have an effect on your liver and permanently harm your health.

Well, alcohol can be just as dangerous as many illegal drugs, due to it's toxicity; it is damn nigh impossible, for instance, to O.D. on marijuana. But it's still safer than most mind-altering substances.

However, the usage of alcohol varies widely. Whereas virtually all users of marijuana, LSD, amphetamines, bennies, speed, smack, M, tina, etc. are pretty well doing it to get high, some people drink alcohol not to get intoxicated, but for it's taste and it's role as a 'social lubricant'.

Personally, I can't see nothin' wrong with people smoking the odd joint, but I'm not sure about that other stuff.

I have personal experience, so here's my view. Booze, in small amounts (once a week max), has very little impact on a person. Not so with drugs. People that take any drugs, especially the x, lsd etc form, change. These are not things that are taken as a part of normal social interaction. They attack your spirit, your reputation and your character. You'll find yourself losing ground morally.

I don't think it's got anything to do with government leaders. There is a great deal of shame in taking drugs (you know it on any come down).

As far as trying to escape this "sad, scary world"... trust me, drugs will just make it sadder and scarier, in direct proportion to the amount and strength that you take. And that, as Rodrigues sang, is a concretal fact.

Alcohol is classified as a hard drug, meaning it is addictive. You're right, it's a drug like any other, but it's legal.

Other hard drugs are cafeine and nicotine. Their effect may not be so dramatic because we take them in small doses at a time, but they are definetely addictive and they cause harm to the body. Imagine though if you were to inject cafeine.

alcohol is a dangerous drug, yes so are many things when done in excess, i do other drugs occassionaly as i see nothing wrong with it, just as long as u don't get hooked, too much of a good thing can end very badly. it's only cuz drugs are illegal that ppl think its so taboo, but drinkers are engagging in the same activeties as the illicit drug user, just not breaking the law.

Alcohol causes more deaths than all of the other drugs involved and yet it is legal. Go figure.

Drugs on the natural level are all good. It is just how society uses them.

God, didn't make alcohol, but it happened when he cursed the earth with Thermodynamics.

Marijuana, has healing and other medical properties, but people always ignore that.

There is all more to understand if you put sin nature aside.
