Davey jones the slimy git got his troops to wind this thing up that made a massive thud causing sonic vibrations through the water which in turn brought the Kraken to the vicinity. Much like when the crew on board that silly little boat used to summon Godzilla in the 80's cartoons.

Saw this in a film once a long time ago.
Off the top of my head I think it was Neptune, God of the sea.
Can't remember the name of the film. Mythology sword & sandels thing.
But don't quote me on that.
