Seriously, who considers 'them' such a great threat? More people die on roads each year than by so called terrorism.
Just seems these days people like to have a new enemy to hold up and say "Your either with us, or with the terrorists."

Everyone here assumes i am in America and shouldnt be judging based on where i live. You are ignorant yourselves for thinking this.
The war in Iraq is not about terrorism, its just that you call the 'bad guys' terrorists.

Terrorists don't scare me at all. They are a convenient boogey-man for the government to justify the taking of our constitutional rights.

obviously you have never spoken with anyone who has lost a loved one in a terrorist attack. My high school buddy was killed by an IED in Iraq (at the very base i am at right now in Iraq) and he left behind a wife and 3 very small children...when you serve your country and watch your friends die in your arms from these "terrorist" you say are not scary, then you have the right to decide whether or not they are a threat. spend 1 day here where you can't eat or sleep because you are constantly being attacked and then ask "who is really afraid of terrorists"--you will be. respect your military and remember we are here fighting so you can ask such an ignorant question.

It would be unreasonable not to be concerned about them, but I don't think we should let our lives be run by taking away guaranteed rights to "protect" us from dangerous criminals. More people are killed by the average criminals, yet we don't lock everybody up, and listen in on the phone conversations of people who COULD be involved in something criminal in the future, when there is no evidence that there is even a current plan. We only investigate them if there is evidence, and we protect their rights, too. I think we should do no less for the average person. After all, how much freedom do we really have when we can't take lipstick on an airplane, because it's "possible" a terrorist could masquerade an explosive as lipstick! Roosevelt talked about the Four Freedoms, not the Four Securities!

If you, or a lot of other people who have answered here, were to travel to the middle east I think you may change your opinion.
It is very easy for us in this country, not effected by what these people do, to say no they don't scare me.
Consider this, we all are going to die someday and yes we stand a better chance of being killed on the highway. But no one is out there trying to make sure you die and willing to die with you to insure you do.
If you lived in a major city like New York you also may have a different opinion.
Yes we can not live in fear of them but to give them a healthy respect is not bad either.
One thing is for sure. If you are an American you are their number one target wherever they find you. And don't expect that to go away any time soon.

I'm frightened by what terrorists do! Last week in this country, there were three bombing incidents in one tourist resort at night; earlier there was a single incident in another city and later another tourist resort was bombed and people killed. Some years ago, I was in a tourist resort when bombs exploded in waste bins on the sea front, causing death. It's easy to say you're not afraid if you haven't come close to their actions. I won't stop flying and I won't stop travelling on public transport, but I'd be lying if I said that I had no fear.

We have an illegitimate government that wants to fan the fires of fear and paranoia so we will believe we "need" them to keep us safe. We are at far more risk every time we get into a motor vehicle than we are from terrorists.
Fortunately, America seems to be emerging from its coma and recognizing BS for what it is, and even understanding that the Bush administration's action have made us far less safe.
If the thugs running this country weren't themselves paranoid at being found out, they would not be so rabid in trying to stifle debate and opposition.

Terrorists are nothing more than a huge street gang/biker gang.. but face it, they have to be stopped. Most people turned their backs on the little street gangs.. just because they didn't want to get involved. Or, they're just kids.. what harm can they do..
Well, this lady stands her ground with street gangs, punks, and every bad a** that tries to face me down. I'm not afraid of terrorists, but I'm not going to let them just think bigger than they are either. I know they won't just go away because I chose to sit safely behind my closed doors.
I take them serious.. but they best take me serious as well..

Not me, if there was a terror threat, the borders to the north/south and shorelines would be closed down in a heartbeat, they've been the same since post 9/11 so there is no terror threat just a slogan by the Bush administration to "terrorize" gullible Americans into letting him rub his weiner all over their faces.

I think Paladin is right. I have become more paranoid than ever over the past couple years. (not proud of this at all) Why? We are constantly shoveled heaping handfuls of 'fear this' and 'fear that'. We worry about what might happen to our children when they're not in our sights. We worry when we're at events with large amounts of people and things of this nature. The real question is, how do we move beyond all this?
