1. The phone always rings when you are in the midst of something else and have to devote all your time to that.
2. The frequency of the phone ringing is directly proportional to how overloaded and burnt out you already are at a particular moment.
3. The likelihood that the call is a bad call (telemarketer, someone you don't want to deal with, etc) is directly proportional to how burnt out you already are.

I was actually referring to calls at one's place of work. So an unlisted number is not an option. Let's put this in perspective. It is supposed to be a humorous "Murphy's Law" type observation. Let's try not to take this too seriously...
