I respect them, own them, and train myself in their use. In the right hands a firearm is a useful tool.

Gun crime would be so much lower if all states used Federal guidelines in sentancing of gun related crime. Use a gun in a criminal act is 25 years no ifs ands or buts...

My father is a firearms dealer and also an avid hunter. My sis and I were taught the responsibility of safe gun use as children, took all the class' etc.
I like to target shoot, not much on hunting, I feel they should be used in self defense, like break in's , stalker's that actually go good on their promise's etc.
I was being stalked years ago, and the guy was outside my window threatening to come in and "beat my ***", I shot a gun outside my window to warn him, and he called the police and I got 90days house arrest, and 2years supervised probation, and cost's of $5k, he got nothing, and I was the 4th girl he'd done this to, AND, he is a registered sex offender, AND a past family member, go figure!

Guns don't kill people, people kill people. We have the constitutional right to own guns for a reason. Most people in the world have a dislike for the USA. Our fore fathers wrote that into the constitution so that we can defend our way of life. I am proud to be an American and I am glad that our government has allowed me to be able to defend my family and home against those whom would want to destroy that.

I am not a big fan of guns. However, if you want to own one I feel that is your right. I think people today have resorted to using them too much when a situation arises. (gang wars, terrorism, etc.) Like the man above stated, there is a time and place.

I feel that any law abiding citizen should be allowed to choose whether he or she will own a firearm. There is no reason to exclude anyone from the tradition of firearms ownership, with the exception of convicted felons, anyone facing indictment, or anyone who is mentally incompetent.

Guns themselves are not dangerous weapons--only the people operating them. When used by a responsible person, who takes the initiative to get properly trained in their safe use, they are no more a danger than a car.

Firearms are tools. Like any tool they can be used for good or harm. In and of itself they is a neutral item. By the way, it was the smooth bore, double shotgun which won the west. That line about the Colt was a promotional line for Colt's advertisement.

Personally don't care for them. But I believe in the constitution, all parts of it. If someone wants to put themselves and their family at risk (most people shot are shot by their own guns), they have that right.

"An armed society is a polite society". People do outrageous things these days because there are no consequences. Criminal activity rises dramatically wwhen they are no consequences. Armed citizens are an infinitely more powerful forces against these evils than organized police forces.

Great. As a wise man once said "God made all men, But Samuel Colt made them all equal." Without guns there would not be a modern world.
