The back button in browser is just for taking you back within pages, but often it happens that a page has 'frames' in it. and when you click on a link the page changes only within the frame, now in this case if you click on back button you will be taken to the previous page and if you want to go to previous frame then right click on the new frame and then click back from the menu.
And next time when you ask be a bit more specific..

It sounds like maybe individual stocks open in a separate window, so there is nothing to go back to. Try minimizing it to see if where you were reappears on the screen. If so you can just exit it each time to return to your previous page.

If that's not the case you can use the Back dropdown menu to go back to where you were. There's a little down arrow to the right of "Back".
