I was told by my doctor to start checking my cervix for mucus. Hubby & I have been TTC for sometime now, I have been checking my CM, now for about 3 months. This month it is different. It seems like everytime I check it's clear & stretch. I though this was only to be when you were Ovulating. I can't be Ovulating for almost a week 1/2 , can i? I thought it only lasted a few days. The CM started out as it did every other month, dry for a day or two after my A/F and then white & lotion like, then changed to the clear, slippery, stretch CM. I had my last period on Aug. 14th &?I cycle every 29 days. I should have Ovulated around the 29th. Which is when the clear, slippery, stretchy stuff occurred, but it hasn't really gone away. there was one day when I was kinda dry & had really no CM, then it changed to milky, watery whitish CM and now it is clear and stretch again. There is not a lot of this but there is enough to notice it when checking CM. I had sex every since the last day

You can have several patches of "fertile" cervical mucous throughout your cycle, but the kind you describe is the most fertile kind. If it is clear, abundant, slippery and very stretchy like egg whites that is the best fluid to help the sperm survive longer and help them travel upward. You can still have "fertile" cervical fluid even after you ovulate. it usually then changes to either dry or creamy whitish like lotion. I went through fertility treatments for six months. I know how confusing everything can be. You can't base your ovulation solely on your CM. If your periods are regular every month than you should be able to count your days. It should occur fourteen days from the first day of your period. Which means you should have ovulated on Aug. 27, not the 29th. You are only fertile for three days a month. Sperm can last inside the vagina for up to 48 hours after sex. If you limit sex to every other day and have sex in the mornings ( His sperm count will be higher in the morning.) you will increase your chances. If you have sex every day it can decrease your chances because it will lower his count. Also if he drinks more caffeine that can help too. Your CM will look and feel like egg whites 24 hours before ovulation. You can also purchase ovulaton kits and they work great too!
