This in and interesting question. First of all I want to say something about on the repartition's is ridiculous. Why should anyone get free money because of something that happened 150 years ago. Hell over 2000 years ago my ancestors were Jewish, and they were slaves to Egypt does that mean that I should get money for that. No. Second not every black person came here from slavery ancestors, a lot of them came here as free people. A small percentage of people were actually slaves. So that means that we would have to go through a lot of records to find out who was an actual descendant of slaves. And who pays all white people? Third my family came here back in the 1790's they lived in the north and never owned slaves. Why should I have to pay for it? And also a lot of the slave traders were educated Africans themselves that sold tribes of Africans. And some of them that sold slaves were Brits, so make them pay.
It's history, it happened, it was a dark part in American history. But if it was not for those slaves the south never would have become as powerful as it was. Money will does not always help. What we should do is say Thank You. Instead let's honor those slaves. Build a memorial in DC saying, that although they were taken from their own lands, this country owes them an honor of thanks for helping build this country. Oh and remember one thing, it was a white guy wanted to free the slaves.

okay, slavery has been around for thousands of years, however Americans were one of the first to use slaves on the basis of color. Most slaves, way back when, were prisoners of war, regardless of color...therefor whites owned whites and blacks owned blacks. This of course doesn't make slavery right though.
And yes I know some blacks in America owned black slaves, but none owned white slaves.
We as a country have been treating blacks badly since our inception, and that is wrong, no man, woman, or child should be treated badly becausev of their race.

Slavery existed all over the world back then. Even in Europe, this is where the word Slavs come from. Even though they were slaves in their own country, Greece, Africa, England...they were treated as human beings. BUT, the difference between that and the US slave trade is the inhumane way the slaves were treated by Americans, as if they were animals. They had no human rights, they were tortured, killed, maimed, a dog was treated better. They were also rounded up like beasts, transported like beasts and treated like beasts. The US needs to apologize and recompense because anything that is taken by force is cursed.
Also, the US slave trade shows how savage and barbaric Americans were and Am. should atone for this grave human injustice, it's not too late. They're waiting....
Everyone wants to forget slavery, but no one want to let go of the holocaust?? Try saying move on about the holocaust and see where that gets you.

How do you think slavery stopped in this country? It is because people didn't think it was cool. If you would like honest answers to your question you should try asking them a little better. Your insensitive view shows that you would have been one of those people who thought slavery was cool. You are an idiot and racist poop.

Which kind of slavery, man? Slavery has been going on for a lot longer than that, so do research on history, and they were not necesarily black.
Even then, who started doens't make racism ok, that's also stupid thinking. Maybe the africans started American slavery to bring slaves to white people. Demands creates supply.

Even though that is true white americans bought the slaves. For an analogy lets say a guy offers to sale you cocaine and you buy it. So is it his fault you bought it. Are you anyless guilty than he is? Slavery is not modern white or black peoples faults it is just our fault this is still an issue years after it has ended. We need to move on all of us.

My view on this subject isn't popular either. I think that anyone alive today should not be so angry about the past, focus on today or the future. All races and religions have had a bad (for lack of a stronger word) time in their past. There has always been slavery in one form or another, and there has always been a group of people that have been oppressed. I am not responsible for my ancestors, anymore than you are for yours.Get on with your own life. MY OPINION.

Any intelligent African American person knows that you did not own any people. You are just paranoid if you believe that anyone blames you for slavery. I think you must be hated because your prejudice is obvious. God created all of us! All men and women are equal. Whatever you do sir, please do not teach this prejudice to your children.

In essence man has always put down his fellowman and is by nature selfish, wanting to be served. However this does not detract from the inhumanity of slavery. Certainly by whichever race, it is just as horrible.

That may be true that Africans sold their people but I think the white man is still to blame bcuz they corrupted Africans minds with temptation and evil material things.
