"Quick & Clever Handmade Cards" by Julie Hickey is a one of my favorite books with something for everyone. Published by David & Charles price £12.99

Another good book from David & Charles is "The Rubber Stamper's Bible" by Francoise Read which gives good examples of many of the different techniques. Price £18.99

If your friend is very experienced perhaps one of the newer and less popular Search Press books such as "Card & Thread Greeting Cards" by Polly Pinder at £6.99

As there's so many of them out there, the best thing to do is head to your local library and see what they got. They usually have the most popular.Have a look at what they got and if you think it's good then buy that one for a present.

if it's someone who already makes cards - don't get them one. cardmaking advances so rapidly it's a waste of money. instead get them some supplies, cards & envelopes, cardstock (plain paper), zig markers... something a little more on the generic side unless you really know what they like. or a gift certificate. i know a gift certificate sounds impersonal, but as a crafter, i would much rather get a gift card to a store i like than a book i wasn't going to use. i hope that helps.
