the symbol is a value describer ,or indicator ,it indicates the value on the right is greater than the value onthe left/if it is reversed it means the value on the left is of greater quantific value (quantity) technically you should write it n<3 ,n meaning number or since this is wordplay and you wrote it this less than/heart 3 it means you are holdin either an ace or a two (of hearts?)

Its used as a "Heart" thats what the shape is suppose to be.
