Everyone deserves a good education. I do not understand why the rich get better shcool equipment, while the poor have to suffer. This appears to be what the problem has been all along. The poor will remain poor and the rich will remain rich as long as this system stays the way it is. There are very intelligent children of both financial status groups, but it is very difficult to get a good eduction when your resources are few and very limited.

A good education, which fosters lateral thinking, creativity and innovation ought only be limited to a precious few, or the elite as you say. When one gets a good education, the world seems open and one wants to make a measurable impact on society. The problem is that there is only so much room for true thinkers. The rest need to be worker bees, doing the bidding of the well educated.

Unfortunately, too many people are educated far beyond what society really needs from them. Luckily, any excess creativity or energy they may have is siphoned off by innane expensive gadgets. Television is the real soma.

Good question gripper. Yes, it should be available for all. But perhaps the word good should be replaced by 'a complete' education as I find that the present education of the masses is largely incomplete with many of the traditional subjects like Literature and History being excluded.

It seems to me that only the Elite get a complete education. A really good all round education should not just be for the chosen few to enjoy.

I also think that free higher education is the right of all. Who pays for it would be debatable, but not the student that's for sure as they're the countries future.

Honestly when you go to an Ivy leage school it doesn't mean that's the best education, it has been known that some community colleges have great and excellent professors. The only reason you would see "ivy leage" schools as the best is because it's mainly aimed at those with money, the name itself would give you a boost when finding a job but not neceseraly mean that you got the best education. It just gives you status that is all.

Good education is available to all, even in schools that are in deprived areas. The question is how much does one want to learn. This depends on the mentality of the child which often is related to the way in which they are brought up.

You can take a horse to water, but you cant force it to drink. I should know as I'm a secondary teacher. I have worked in "good" and "bad" schools, but i still teach with the same passion, and qualification, wherever iam at, wherever i go, i have a responsibility, and so do the parents. They need to let their children know that good education is available to everyone and its for the child to grab it.

A good education is available to all. But you are not entitled to it. You have to work for it. Your parents have to work for it. You do not deserve it just because you breath. Any person who seeks a good education, who puts forth the time and effort, will get a good education.

Yes, poor people have to work harder for it, but it is no less unavailable for that reason. There are plenty of grants and scholarships for them to seek.

Also, if we were able to break the stranglehold of Democrat-supporting teacher unions and their failing public schools, we could probably give more people better educations. It's too bad that Democrats are so virulently against giving poor people a shot at a good education.

for all, of course... the "elite" is just a minority of the population, so if you give good education only to the elite, the country (or if you will, the world) would be deprived of some great minds that could be formed with good education provided to everyone.
besides, wouldn't "good education for elite only" be discrimination? as far as I know, the right to a good education is a natural human right and should be introduced in every Constitution... so, it makes it sort of doubly regulated by law.... i suppose it should only be put to practise...

A 'good education' IS available to all. Some are going to have to work harder to get it than others. But that is life. For everything you want in life you will have to pay a price. And the price is different for all. It may not be fair but then life isn't fair. It's just life.

What is the "elite" - someone thick person who just has more money than everyone else or the someone who is upper class.

Every child is entitled to a first class education - regardless of how much money daddy has.

If "Good" education was available for everyone then there wouldn't be uneducated people to become the servants of society. Do you think the garbage man would be there to pick up your trash if he had a PhD?
