HA,, I just found out how to do this last week so I am sooo feeling you!!!
I did a yahoo search ( you can also use that other search engine) for Free myspace themes or backgrounds,, and the page I found told you everything step by step to do it,, I will look and see if I can get the link for you and update my post.
It's actually pretty easy once you figure it all out!!!!

ok go to some site like www.myspacedirect.com or www.myspaceland.com and they will give u codes and even tell u where to copy and paste the codes at. you can find all kinds of images and backgrounds...
