My grandson is 11 and his dad died about 3 yrs ago and we are very close. He lives about 100 miles away from me. He is really concerned and worried about his Mom and her driving. He worries about everything anyway because of his dad passing(self-inflicted?accidental shooting). But he is an exceptional kid and has had some couselling right after his dad's death. He is a well rounded kid otherwise.
The problem is his Mom drives way over the speed limit, runs stop signs occasionly & they are moving back to a rural area, she is a Realtor and she works constantly and is always late or in a hurry. There is not a huge amount of traffic in that area but anything can happen and we thought about having someone who coaches his ball team ( a cop) call the state troopers and have them pull her over.
Of course I am VERY worried also that something could happen to them or someone else. ANy suggestions on how to pursue? I wrote to Dr. Phil over a yr. ago about this, no response!

If you have contacts on the police force, USE THEM this will do a varity of things; either scare the pants of her and she'll drive more safely or make her mad and drive crazier.

Your grandson can make a smart move and always sit in the back seat and wear his seatbelt nice and snug for his own safety.

Have you tried talking to her about it? Has your grandson? Sometimes a child communicating a fear to a parent will make a huge difference.

I think u should seek some outside help, and give her as much suport as u can saying u understand, if she doesn't want that outside help she sopuld talk to some one about how she feel an try and meet knew people, just for a friend status.

He could tell her he is scared one more time if there is no change , he could refuse to get into the car with her , and mean it ! This might get her attention !
