God or Paramatma is ocean and we human beings are drops.
It is very beautiful symbolic quote. you'll have to understand the meaning of it.
Every human race who believes in certain religion is a river, pond or lake. We the drops, gather and make a river(religion) whose ultimate destination is Ocean.
Ocean is responsible for the creation of drops which exists and goes back in the ocean. In the same manner human beings are created by Paramatma or the God and they returns back to him after leaving their body.
It's very short answer in which I have only defined the quote. If you want description than I can provide you with the whole desciption which is in my mind.

This analogy can help illustrate how we are the same quality as the Lord. All the qualities of the ocean can be seen in a drop of the ocean. Similarly, each of us living beings is as spiritual as the Lord. Therefore, when we understand our own spiritual nature we can understand something of the spiritual nature of the Lord. This is called self-realization. Some spiritualists stop at this point and claim there is no difference between the living beings and the Lord. But actually, there is a huge gulf of difference. The Lord is the chief living being who is maintaining all other living beings. He is the source of our existence-- He is the energetic and we are His energy. He knows everything in the past, present and future, omniscient, whereas we can know only a limited span of space-time. But the analogy you've given is certainly good to help us understand our spiritual nature as being the same in quality as that of God.

ocean and drops are only metaphors of course, and metaphors are right up to a point and wrong after that point - but there is no way of knowing from the metaphor where the metaphor is right and where not

god [aka existence, energy, tao, singularity, lifeforce, infinity, creativity, creator, etc, etc] is hologrammatic, ie, is fully present at each and every point [as bodies and oceans cannot be] - so the ocean is in each drop

'there are universes inside each atom' vedas

'some know that the drop merges with the ocean, but not so many know that the ocean merges with the drop' kabir

that is, the finite self, when it lets go, and allows itself to merge with infinity, retains its finity and infinity enters into it - or, rather, the soul realises that infinity and finity were and are one all the time - we are all sole emperor of the universes - every atom is sole emperor of the universes

it is a bit like ideas: i can have an idea and you can have the same idea, and yet it is one idea, not two specimens of one idea

whereas if i have horse and you have a horse, it is two specimens of horse

god is like an idea - is present everywhere, fully present in every point in space, without being plural - god [energy] doesnt obey any of the laws that bodies have to - god doesnt occupy this space and not that space, god has no position, size, shape, etc - that is why god is a bit hard to experience at first, till you get the knack, because it is unlike anything we are used to

god is the singularity - ie, prior to time and space - time and space are within the singularity - the singularity is not within time and space - that is why the singularity can be fully present at each point in space without being plural, because it really isnt in space at all, it is prior to space, was there before space came along, if you follow

you can think of it like a seed - the tree is inside the seed, sort-of - well, all ideas, and the idea of seeds [the seed of seeds] is in the singularity - as a seed doesnt take up much space, the seed of seeds [the singularity], takes up no space at all, although it 'contains' the whole tree of the universe

the point is that we can experience the whole of god and we are the whole of god and every atom is the whole of god and there is nothing but god, and god is us and we are god - we are infinite, creators - like artists have got an infinite number of paintings 'inside' them

but the meaning of words come from our experience of the world, so are not very accurate of god - they are just metaphors which are part right and part wrong

experience god/ infinity/ singularity, and you will see which parts of the metaphors are right and which are wrong - which you can do by ignoring all the physical world and experiencing only the inner world - the changeless realm outside time and space - the undefined, unlimited, simple, invisible no-thing you know as you

Interesting concept. It is not literally true, but a wonderful parallel.
People born of sadness are teardrops in the river
People born of gladness are the warm spring rain
life's journey is a river with an ocean at it's ending
where we'll all be one with God who will wash away our pain....
hmmm, needs a bit of work, but I think I just penned the basics of an inspirational song!

Its a universal truth. Almighty God is everywhere, he knows every act which we had done, are doing or going to do in the future. He has created universe, we are part of him, he cares about every being he has created, he is the person who is in charge, he can't be wrong, he is always right, he is the ocean of love, powers, etc.

Science is progressing but cannot progress to define GOD. God can't be defined. It is said a person who saw God can't even describe him. God is here, God is there, God is everywhere.

no two drops are a like, all slightly imperfect... some of us dry up in the burning sand, never reaching that promised land.....but seek his salvation and live by his word, and you again one day will live in gods eternal sea.
