The likelihood of the Democrats taking the U.S. Senate is slim; however, the chances of taking the House are much better and that is their strategy.
Shall I list the number of issues and policies that have moderate Americans (not liberal Americans) anxious for a change?
1. a one party government (Republicans in both houses rubber stamping Bush policies)
2. a desire by some to see Bush investigated for going into Iraq on a false pretense, its lack of a response to the Katrina disaster, and its foot dragging on recommendations by the 9/11 Commission. (The GOP has bottled up those calls for investigations or has dragged its feet.)
3. corruption by the former House Speaker, Tom DeLay, and the K Street Project, and continued corruption by his proteges.
4. the war in Iraq
5. a desire for change. It's been 12 years.
Of course, if the Democrats re-take the House, they could lose it in a dozen years, just as the Republicans appear to this year.
The problem is the false choices represented by a two party government. There's not enough choice and due to campaign money, both parties act similarly when it comes to adopting policy (he who has the most campaign contributions gets the access; the little guy gets shut out.)
One other point: Just as you probably don't support every Republican and their "conservative nonsense", I don't support every Democrat and some ot their "liberal nonsense."
When you throw around words such as "liberal nonsense" though, you betray your ideological predilections, rather than your willingness to find solutions to problems that cross party lines.

If political conservatism makes you feel safe, then I don't blame you for being a bit nervous right now. Certainly all politicians are guilty of a certain amount of nonsense, but in the history of this nation, the lies, corruption, fraud, and abuse of power demonstrated by the current "conservative" government has never been equalled.
So the poll numbers show that the American people are actually tired of those misdeeds, and now desire a government that will restore the principles that have made this nation a great nation in the past. America can still be saved from the abuses of the neocons, but we must act swiftly.

It's long overdue for a change in Congress. The GOP has been in power for 12 years, that's long enough in my books! They've ran amok since then. Go, Dems! Things will change on November 7! Definitely!

Repuglicans suck worse is why I will vote democratic. Just look at the mess the repuglicans have us in. Over spending the budget, huge deficits, illegal wars for no reason, no illegal immigration policy. On and on and on. It is time for a change in direction and I am going to turn left to get there because if I turn right it seems it would put me on a dead end street.
