My friend is of the opinion that Star Wars is very gay. I would like to get the rest of the world's opinion (hopefully to prove him wrong :-) Please be honest...

ok coming from a girl in her 20s Star Wars is very cool! Six of the best movies ever made, although the original three are my favs!
They were totally ahead of their time, amazing special effects etc - i'd like to know what films your friend likes i bet there is at least on which everyone else could say was nerdy/stupid etc the whole point to personal taste anyway is that it's personal so who cares what he thinks!!!!

No Star wars is not just a sci-fi and that's what makes it a good watch for all, the story isn't based around one thing, it a true epic about good conquering evil and the thin line on which people balance.
It was way a head of it's time, it introduced us to an amazing cast such as Carrie fisher and Harrison Ford and the special effects was awesome. The Star ship design were out of this world and there hasn't been anything like it since.
Nuff Said.

I don't see how SW is gay. Nowadays, everybody seems to think something's some sort of understated gay erotica in everything. They'll be calling The Terminator camp next! Of course, there are nerds like me who knew about Biggs Darklighter and Han's run-in with Jabba when the film was originally released but I never gave the information without anyone wanting it. It was certainly fantastic and broke the mould of all the other rubbishy 70s films of its time but there was so much hype that I waited until 1982 and watched it on video. There should have been a lot more Darth Vader though (who I knew was in a walking iron lung at the time of the original as well!). I'm more of a Dwarfy and a Whovian myself.

star wars was the first film i ever saw... 7 years old and i thought it was the best thing i ever saw.
unfortunately there has not been many films since that has 'done it' for me.
appart from a few rare films that i have seen, all the star wars films (except for episode 1) have yet to be equalled for their sheer brilliance.
i must just let the world know that a friend of mine, while leaving the cinema after watching episode 3, stated that he could not wait for episode 4 to come out - and wondered why we all fell about laughing at his comment.
i am now 36 and still enjoy watching these films with my 7 year-old son who also thinks they are great films.
I AM NOT A KEEK, NERD, OR WIERDO - honest.

Star Wars is an epic. A classic saga of good vs. evil. If you start dressing as Yoda on a daily basis or wear a Stormtrooper outfit out to dinner, then you're a nerd. Otherwise, enjoy the movies for their plots, entertainment value, characters, and their value to pop culture.

you see the biggest problem is that people look at Star Wars as just some stupid sci-fi movie but in truth it is a modern telling of the classic stories of knights and quests and the battle between good and evil and how sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between the two. you should tell you friend that. Plus from the list of the movies you gave it sounds like to me that he is someone that only likes comedies most of the ones you listed are of that type Maybe he should open his mind more and watch something with more substance.

No I thought Star Wars was one of the most original movies of all time.It not only had a plot (unlike most of the movies he likes). They had human fraility, drama, action, and a hot babe in a bakini. Most people tend to think that just because somethings sci- fi and has a big following means its gay. To some point some get carried away with it but as for the movies themselves ask any movie critic and they will tell you the movies were original and inspired a new generation of movie-making.

Star Wars is a great series. Its not just for Nerds it depends on peoples preferences. But i would suggest your mate sticks to his own films and leaves you alone. Star Trek wouldnt be as popular as it is now if ONLY nerds were watching it.
Now! Star Trek would be borderline but i dont even think that Nerdy either (well maybe slightly).
Dr Who is MEGA NERDY and its totally poor in its making too.

If ur friend hates Star Wars he is probably a closet 'Trekkie.' Star Wars beats Star Trek hands down. He's jealous because Star Trek doesn't have cool characters like Darth Vader.

Star Wars absolutely rock! Your friend has no taste in movies or is trying to assert his "manliness". Nerds go to conventions and name their children Hans Solo etc. Show your friend the clips of Leia in the bikini in Return of The Jedi, judging by the type of films he watches he'll get pretty interested very quickly!!
