A friend of mine has been taking advantage of me.. Our thing is "Let's do Lunch" ..well lately he will say to me, "hey if you pay with your $20 I'll get the money back to you later" First it was 5 bucks for his meal at taco bell last week (okay thats no biggie, 5 bucks, no big deal right?) Well yesterday it was 12 dollars at Big Boy..( he said he would bring the money to my work later in the evening and never showed up). So a couple weeks ago I invited him to this dinner for a lady we used to work with.. and i said i would pay his portion if he'd accompany me.. except now im out the money for those OTHER dine-outs so I feel like he should pay his own way on this one.. how should i go about it? He is very schmoozy and clever and I'm too spineless..argh.. HELP please!

Start askng him to pay your share...he owes you it.He must be laughing his socks off,finding a meal-ticket.If you really want to keep him as a friend,don't dine out with him and take very little money with you if you go anywhere else.You're giving him a free ride in life.Let him pay and learn,same as everyone else.You could also eat before you went out with him.

Just let him know that you cannot afford to pay for you both all the time, then see what he says. Or you could ask him to dinner and say this one is on him because it's his turn and again see his response. To be honest though, i think he is just using you, so get out of their and stop offering to pay for him!

stop paying his way,tell him lunch is on him this time and if he says he doesn't have money just don't go he is really using you wake up and smell the coffee
