Spring Valley is just a residential area of San Diego. A lot of people have moved there in the last few years because housing was relatively cheaper there, but it's not considered a bad area. Just stay there at your friend's place and during the day go see the sights in San Diego county. (Sea World, the beach, Balboa Park, etc.)

It's a dump, plain and simple. It's a pocket of El Caminos for the WT , Toyota Tercels for los mexicanos, and rusted Oldsmobiles for the Democrats. Also, if you see a car with a bumper sticker that says "Radio Latina", I'm pretty sure it's spanish for, "This car has no insurance." The "amenities" are a Swap Meet, Big Lots, and a couple of Payday Loan Centers. Twenty years ago it was the meth capital of the world until the Appalachian region figured out the recipe. The tweakers still live in Spring Valley, though.

It's a simple little area east of San Diego. I'd say in the past 20 years, it may have turned a little ghetto, but I was raised there and didn't experience too much trouble. But that was 20 years ago, and I live in LA now. I visit my friend who lives in the center of Spring Valley and to me, it still seems the same. Lower-middle class suburbia. If you head more east (Lemon Grove, La Mesa) then I'd say it is more "ghetto." But I've seen some "F" upped places in LA, and they're ten times worse than Spring Valley. Maybe it's because there's more Raider fans who live in LA. You get more Chargers fans in Spring Valley, so it's a lot safer!

Well, it's east of San Diego city, and normally very hot there being it's just reconstituted desert land.

I don't ever go out that area and normally most people don't unless they either work or live there.

I suggest you look up San Diego's Chamber of Commerce for starters. Other links may direct you to better info.

It's not the best area nor is it the worst. It all depends on how catergorize "ghetto."
