The worst job I had was in a dry cleaners as a presser trainee. I could take the heat but not the abusive, nit-picky boss who was hated by all. After 1 l/2 days on the job, I quit. She instantly begged me to reconsider, but I declined.
The best job I had was as a stenographer for the court system. It was the first job I had straight out of business school and also the best boss (which happened to be a woman) that I have ever had since. I was her "pet" employee because I was the only employee who wasn't talking about her behind her back. Consequently, I was ostracized by my co-workers. After several years, I left to obtain employment for higher pay, elsewhere. To this day, I regret having left there, as I would have been able to obtain early retirement, had I stayed. (I didn't know this at the time). Live and learn!

Worst job was absolutely turkey plucking for 30p a small turkey and 50p a large one. The large ones were worst. The best one was when I worked at The Royal Greenwich Observatory (archives) and I worked in Herstmonceux Castle and we had Halloween parties in the castle having sword fights along the battlements and I was hiding around the castle pretending to be one of the alleged ghosts and scaring the girls in the department and the boss gave you a birthday present and a christmas present and we skived off every Friday to the pub and only came back to clock off. If we got fed up we'd walk around the huge gardens or even have a can laying by the lake. If it was tourist season we'd 'have a pose' by wearing our white coats and going through the Exhibition Hall and through the door saying 'staff only' until Keith from security rumbled us and locked the door to make us look silly. It was well worth the 10 mile there - 10 mile back cycle ride to work. You got a subsidised two-course dinner for £1 as well.

The worst job I ever had by far was working for an examinations board - I was stuck down this dark, dank little cellar, where all I had to do all day was collect bags of exam papers and file them in thier relevant section. Except these bags were majorly heavy, and the filing system was appalling and utterly next to impossible to find where to put things.
Honestly, it was awful. Plus at the time, I was working weekends and evenings too. Ugh.
Hopefully, the one I am about to embark on will be the best... I'm due to start teacher training!

I never really had a worst job. For best job was being a secretary's aide a decade ago for 1.5 years, which was part of work study for my school. I hated work study, but loved the work. It got me thinking of wanting to work in a office as an office clerk or secretary. I hated doing the same old boring stuff. It was only part-time and got paid for it for my real job experience.

Best job: Working in a bookshop for 3 years. My colleagues were great, the customers were amusing and I got tons of freebies from publishers.
Worst job: My first job as a glass collector in a working mens' club at age 16. The other staff hated me, I was paid a pittance for several hours on my feet, and had to constantly deal with customers' wandering hands!

I worked at a pub once where when the bins got full we had to jump in them and squash all the stuff down- surely that's illegal, the best is nannying- private pools, nanny car for free time, exotic holidays- I went to Antigua for the oyster festival, can work on your tan all day, and just mess about in the garden, play with barbies and watch the sound of music, and get paid a heap if your in the right job!
