Try Kilz (get at the paint store or Home Depot), to cover the mark, then repaint over that.

wd-40 will help to lighten and might remove some of it but other then repainting there is no way to remove permanent marker although there is a new product on the market for these types of issues not sure how well it works on walls.. it's called winning colors.. you can get it at Home Depot... good luck

i've got used nail polish remover to eliminate sharpie from different surfaces in the previous...try that? in case you won't be able to get it off that way, in keeping with risk you should use primer and then use an exceptionally stable high quality paint to conceal it....?
