Goldfish do nothing for me, but Japanese Betta - thats a nice fish to have. Knowing that this fish will do everything possible to kill whatever enters it's waters gives me a little sense of relaxation in my mind.

Yes, though mine always seem to die. However a friend of mine keeps tropical fish, and those are even more relaxing than regular goldfish. Try keeping a host of colourful parrotfish, which are more amusing to watch.

They are indeed, so much so i now have 3 huge tanks full of them!

people that say fish are boring are entitled to thier opinion but i would say they have not spent time watching them, just gazed at them occasionally.

Now some amy say im a mad old fish lady, but i like the different personalities of the different species.

My Betta takes food from my finger when i hold it in the water, My Angels like to stare at you as if your in the tank and not them, my Gouramis bump the glass when i come near the tank etc etc..

(yes... i do sound like a mad old fish lady) LOL

I thought it would be, but mine (Puffy) insists on having noisy parties on a daily basis and I just can't seem to make him see how much it gets me down.
He drinks and swears too and is currently giving me the evil eye from his tank across the room coz I told him to tidy it up.
He's not the ideal relaxing pet.

I wish I could say yes. But having 5 die in the space of a week, I would say no.
