Each person is an individual, so the smirk or half-smile you describe could mean many things. There may be a preponderance of half-smiles meaning sarcasm in most people, but the only true way to determine what it is in the individual is to study what they do when and after they do the smile.

If you can get from them what they were feeling while they made the gesture, that would help you too.

It could be bells palsy or a stroke. My sister had bells palsy after giving birth. One whole side of her face was "sagging". For her it lasted about a year and eventually went away. The doctor said something about all the stress of childbirth had affected the nerves in her face.

hope this helps.

right hemisphere of the brain is used for 'thinking by images'.For example;when we need to make a map of the way of a school,we use right hemisphere while we imagine of it.

left hemisphere is responsible of speaking and languages.it's also used for works which are to be done in a certain order. For example;summation or subtraction.

The way your face tend to shows the improved part of your brain.

Faceless is right about strokes. There is no such thing as an improperly executed smile.

my smile is uneven - my right sode of my face just has stronger muscles, actually, not sure why....they say your whole face is asymmetrical, and if both halves were the same, we'd actually look pretty funny.
