I am a staunch conservative and always have been. Im not against LEGAL immigration (Im married to a legal immigrant).I do however consider illegal immigration a very serious problem.
Now our party is selling out while we inch closer to election day. Any other fellow conservatives had enough? See the link to see what our party is doing now. Are you as fed up as I am?

You bet cha..,can have homeland security with out protecting the homeland and it seems neither party wants two do it because of the political correctness bull.I am sick of it and kinda tired of President Bush cowtowing to the dems over certain issues and not having the back bone to stand up to them.I like President Bush, but like you not all of his policies or lack thereof. Will vote conservative for whoever has the immigration bill down pat.Great question.Well no wonder..,if you actually are a republican and a conservative you ought to know the vomit that spews out of the NY times..,wheres your head?

I like the way they are going to emphasize port security but not security at inland borders.

Birdsnakecatherine - this story is all over in all the media, not just the New York Times. The Bush administration has allowed more than 6 million illegal immigrants to slip into the US. How is this in favor of the working people? You may work at a well paid and skilled job, and may not have noticed that the illegal immigrants are taking good entry jobs in many occupations and depressing the wage scales. Some home remodelers for example, almost exclusively employ illegal immigrants who are learning all the home building trades. These guys all came to the US during Bush's tenure. The neocons are responsible for these policies, they have had the control. In addition to their death grip on the executive branch, the neo cons have controlled the House, Senate and now comprise a significant part of the judiciary.

Well, they've got nothing else to run on - this is it. All you have to do is look what they've done with their absolute power to realize why it was either this, flag burning, or anti-gay marriage. Over the last couple of years they've decreased states rights, increased the size of the government, taken away a load of personal responsibility and spent money like a drunken Ted Kennedy loose in Vegas with a fist full of government bonds (and I'm not going to touch the war, that's a disaster into itself).

Soooo the anti-conservative Republicans, who have had the privilege of running everything, have garnered the vote of their entire party on everything and are now desperately searching for something, anything, that the public might agree with them on. This is it, and it's all they've got. Sad eh?

Yes, I am fed up with the waffling from both parties. Too bad people are running for the money, prestige, and authority. Therefore, they will take any stand to win and then just follow the party line and forget those promises and the people who put them in office.

This is one reason I respect Lieberman. I may not agree with him often but I know he stands for something. The Country needs more like him.

Selling out? No...Pandering to the left? yes. The great divide amongst our nation is without merit. 15% of the US population is either far left or far right. 85% are moderate whether they lean one way or another. The 15%'ers have hijacked our country. scaring moderates to vote either far left or far right. Both sides work together to share the power and subsequent money that is derived from such power. The far left screams anti-war stalling the ambition to win the war on terror causing more brave American soldiers to die. Their insatiable thirst for political power is killing people. The far right is reaping billions of dollars through their many industrial affairs as a result of today's march. We the people deserve a more Centrist choice. We are not afforded this due to the extremist within our borders who have a stranglehold on political power and will do anything to either keep it or attain it.

With the real possibility of losing power, the GOP has sunk to the DNC tactic of pandering for votes.

Republicans are so much better for us working people than Democrats, that I'm not fed up.
(Bear in mind, that you can't trust the NY Times.)
I wouldn't believe anything the NYTimes says about anything.
