It's the same as with the pursuit of knowledge: the more you think you know, the more certainty you'll have in being unaware. So as the number of taboos that you are aware of rises steeply, you shouldn't be afraid there might be nothing left soon. On the contrary, the discovery and acceptance of each taboo creates at least three others. You really don't want to know just how far this conjecture could take you.

Loads. Taboos are hard to identify, because by definition they are things that you would never even consider doing. They are different from crimes, which cultures know people want to do and punish them for it.
A taboo would be.... you would never go to your neighbours house, let yourself in and take a bath..... for example. They are things that our culture doesn't accept and so doesn't legislate against. You wouldn't even think of doing them.... its taboo.
For example no one has ever told you not to go to a job interview in a bikini, but you would never think to do it and you know instinctively (because of your cultural upbringing) that this would be unacceptable. This is a taboo.

i think the things that are 'taboo' remain 'taboo', but that people do that which is 'taboo' (or we at least are more aware via media and internet etc of it) to where may seem common to violate a 'taboo'. but this does not make that which is taboo completely acceptable. i think society creates new 'taboos' as well.

Yes, you can swear like the proverbial trooper on tv, but you cant say the 'N' word.
It doesn't matter whether 'swearing' offends anyone, but as to the other word...... unless used by a 'brother.'
Sash.
