The Playstation 3 isn't out yet, so there haven't been any solid reviews that you can rely on. It is better specced in some ways, but the end result really needs to be seen before judgement is made.
The XBox 360 is truly an awesome bit of kit but is currently overpriced (because the PS3 hasn't come out yet it currently has cornered the market)
My advice to you would be to wait for christmas to come, prices will drop across the board as it is, but the XBox360 will plummit this year due to the iminent release of the PS3...and its likely that the PS3 will drop in price to compete with the XBox360 if its reviews aren't as great as expected.
Ignore anyone here that says the PS3 is better because its only better on paper at the moment, the two machines need to be benchmarked together.

All the people that say ps3 and wii is better, don't even know what they are talking about. Both of those systems aren't even out yet. The xbox 360 is currently the best console in the world. and thats a fact!
To see the graphics of all three consoles, go on the sites that give pictures of game fotage. From what i see on Sony.com, Nintendo.com, Xbox.com, i think that the xbox 360 has the best graphics in a unique, slick, stylish way.

I'll tell you a year after the PS3 has been on the shelves, then there should be a good selection of games to compare for each. I'm betting on the PS3 though, purely going on Sony's previous record of marketing and title acquisition.
Also, PS3 and it's games will be very expensive when first launched, but we should see a significant price drop around the Christmas mark after it's been out a year or so.

Depends what you want to use it for if its just to play games save some cash and go for the 360. The PS3 is a multi media machine not just a games console hense ridiculously high price

Ignore all the other answers,the truth is that beauty is in the eye of the beholder,both machines are capable of running amazing games,it all depends on the software and which console gets the best games in the future.I am happy with my xbox360 but i will also be buying a ps3 because im games mad!
