It depends on the occasion. In some cases, I've voted for myself and become the best answerer because nobody else voted for their answers or because I was the only answerer. I don't like those cases. But if I see that I've outstripped other answers in terms of votes, then it makes me feel better as I feel that others have also appreciated my answer and shown their support for my views. But, of course, without any shadow of a doubt, I can say that the best case is when the asker chooses my answer as the best and adds a comment to it thanking me. It makes me feel special, important and above all, a good person. I didn't plead the asker to choose my answer as the best, and in spite of that, he/she took note of my answer which touched his/her heart and which prompted the person to honour my answer. What can be more of an achievement than this?

By the asker...it's nice to know your answer got the job done. When voters pick, they rarely pick past the first 3 or 4 and then sometimes they vote for off-the-wall answers for no apparent reason.
