In the flat opposite to my flat (in Bangalore), an office has shifted recently which has number of employees working and is great disturbance to us. Is it legal to have it in residential complex? What action can we take?

1. It is not legal to have crowded people commercial
establishment in a residential complex.

2. Tell the office in charge if he/she can help to keep your privacy
and silence to prevent disturbance to you.
Give a try if they agree and see if it will meet your desire.
If not report to the complex flats association office bearers to
rectify the malady.
If they fail report to the corporation for their intervention.

Caution: The effort /pain to prevent the noise may be lot more
than the current noise level itself. So weigh which one
you prefer and then act.

Residential apartments are not meant for commercial use except for certain professions like those of doctors, architects, lawyers, CA-CS etc., that too upto certain percentage of the floor areas of the apartment.

In case of increasing nuisance beyond limits, you should pool the number of like minded people in the complex and take-up the matter jointly with the local municipal authorities or police for suitable action. As an extreme case, your state High Court can come to your rescue if you file a suitable petition, but only after the local authority and police could not get you respite. Consider each and every step sensibly for best results.

Commercial activities in a residential complex is illegal activity. For this U may contact the concerned area local authority to take appropriate action.
