Been there, done that !!
Actually, still there and still doing it !!!!!!!!
I never tire of driving to work, every morning the same trees, hills, sky looks sooo different. I now drive 16 miles a day to work in less than 20 minutes whereas I used to go 4 miles and it would take AT LEAST 45 minutes.
I hate going home at Christmas because you feel the tension and agression coming back the minute we hit the motorway.
Would highly recommend the change. It's been a real breath of fresh air in more ways than one, I have had asthma since birth and was reliant on an inhaler to get me through the day and now I rarely use an inhaler (I only need it when I decide to trek up a big hill !!)
All the best

My family did this when I was a kid, I loved it. But there are drawbacks. There is crime in the countryside too. Communities tend to be close knit which is great if you fit in and hell if you don't.
I couldn't afford to live there on my wages and so had to move back to the city, and I hate it. If you have transport and a good salary, and if you like the peace and quiet I'd say try it!

Crime although more prevalent in the city can be just as violent in the country, where there's little protection. i was held up today, the bastards followed my car into my farm and threatened to shoot me if my family& i, should we not cooperate. so just think twice- crime is really everywhere. running away does'nt change a thing.

I do like the hustle and bustle of the city but a part of me does yearn to be in the peace and quiet of the countryside or maybe close to a beach.

I've been thinking of moving to a different city. Don't know if that makes much sense.

Apparently, according to a recent newspaper survey, about 44% of UK citizens were thinking the same thing. Personally, I just want to leave the UK for good.
