pluto, like many other kuiper belt objects, has had a large number of people that wanted it to be a planet. but, it falls in a region known as the kuiper belt. this area is a bunch of rocks that orbit our sun, but are not fit to be called a planet by definitions that were decided on 8/24/06

wikipedia has an awesome entry on pluto - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pluto
