Because he said no such thing. He was making a point. He was talking about an economic study referred to in the book Freakonomics that claimed that the reason crime dropped in the past decade was because easy access to abortion had prevented a population of "undesireables" from growing up and becoming criminals.
Bennett's point was that was an appalling justification for abortion. He said that someone could say that we could lower crime by aborting all black babies. That would in fact lower crime a little bit because blacks commit more crime than their share of the population. But his point was that would be an equally horrid justifcation for abortion.
I think a good man has been unjustly smeared by the leftwing press as well as a good number of gullible, unthinking people on here, and he deserves an apology.
