It is all about growing into your adult self.
Your hormones mutate.Bits of you get too big too quickly and other bits never seem to catch up. It means that you are at war with yourself and in that state you are not in a position to make clear and rational decisions.
Hence the human race being the undeniably most stupid thing on the planet we make teenagers take more exams, school, driving licence, college, uni, etc than at any other time in their lives.
We tell them they have to grow up and make decisions and then we snap at them because they do just that! And they aren't the decisions we as parents or elders would have made which is much worse!!!.
It is a crock! But it usually passes and we come out the other side semi normal human beings.
If your relationship with your partner is working , be proud of yourself, you have over come the first huge milestone and don't forget much as your parents love you and probably miss you, having a bit more of their lives for themselves after a good few years might seem kinda ok to them!

Not living with your parents makes you appreciate them all the more. I know when I left at 18 I got on far better with them since I was no longer bound by their rules and I could 'spread my wings'. As an adult I appreciated them far more and now as a parent I can understand eveything they did and said. Just didn't make sense back then! But I could not go back to living with them. Too much like being a child again when I visit!!
Anyway - they've moved so there's not the same emotional attachment to being in their new house. It's just how they like it now - none of the childhood memories are there.

The impulse to be independent is strong and instinctive and is why teenagers "rebel".
If you had stayed at home you might have found you got more and more hemmed in and stir-crazy.
It's great that you appreciate what you had. Enjoy the fact that you had it, that it is still there, that you can visit and create a new kind of relationship with your folks as an independent person.

It's a balance; the parents home is nice and comfortable, but nothign beats finding your own feet and freedom - especially if you have your folks as a fall back if it goes T up.

You know what, nothing beats living at home with your mum. But, like you say, teenagers always run before they can walk.
