I have had to move to Switzerland for work. I want to rent my flat out in Twickenham unfurnished, but it's looking a little bit tired. The kitchen is about 20 years old, and the shower is a little temperamental because they have lowered the water pressure in the area due to the water shortage. Also there is carpet in the bathroom which could be a no no? I know nothing about building, and will only have 2 weeks in England to sort it all out and put it in the agents hands. Does anybody know someone who can help out for a reasonable cost?

I can only afford my rent in Switzerland if I rent my London flat out very soon!!!!

The best advice is to ask around, there is no better reccomendation of a builder than by word of mouth,if that fails go through the yellow pages of yell.com and get three local builders around to give you quotes. Most builders will come round A.S.A.P especially if they want the work.If you get a massivley expensive quote this probably means the builder has alot of work on and does not want the job, don't necessarily go for the cheapest one, middle of the road is usually right.
I needed a wall knocking down a few years ago and I got quotes from £280-£1300 for the same job.The more quotes you get the better and your first instincts are usually right!
forgot to say,I had a new kitchen fitted and used a local carpenter it cost me way less and I found that he actually did loads of other stuff you would not expect so don't necessarily go for builders some carpenters do plumbing, electrics and allsorts!

Email me on rogerssteve42@yahoo.co.uk

My son will gladly give you a price to carry out the work. He is an expert decorator - just 19yrs old and will need to stay in the premises for the duration and will quote for the job - not by the hour or day.
