I'd start with the local PFLAG chapter. In smaller towns, it is more of a catch-all group, rather than the more specific parents-oriented chapters in the big city. In Soldotna, our group has parents and siblings and gay members and have discussed trans issues. We've argued for more inclusive school board policies and helped support a high school dviersity club. When someone new comes to town, we try to point them towards gay-friendly establishments and warn them which providers are less than sympathetic.
In Anchorage, there are number of other groups. I don't have our resource binder in front of me, but Anchorage PFLAG would have that info. Also look at UAA and UAF for student groups. Here are PFLAG chapters in the state:

I don't know of any chapters on Kodiak. Outnumbered and outgunned liberals in a small town tend to be a pretty incestous bunch. From my experience in Kenai/Soldotna, I strongly suspect you'd meet the sort of folks would start a PFLAG chapter and who would be supportive at: Planned Parenthood fundraisers, the local Art Guild, Women's Shelter, and a UU (unitarian universalist) fellowship. Here's their contact info: Kodiak Unitarian Universalist Fellowship
DRE: Jean Dickson
Members: 25
P.O. Box 217
Kodiak, 99615

Hope that helps.
