Philosophy is about meaning and what is more important than the meaning of life?
Philosophy deals with basic questions that it is part of human nature to be curious about: it is this curiosity that has enabled us to advance beyond other species on Earth.
More practically, the study of philosophy is essential to understanding of issues which need to be addressed if we are to understand any other academic subject. And to do philosophy requires the development of thinking skills which enables those who have acquired them to address better many problems in life beyond the academic world.

We try to understand what we can't, and philosophy is just a way of life for some people. I know it seems strange to stay on a long line at the supermarket and ask yourself why are you doing this, but I just like to figure "stuff" out, even crazy "stuff"....
Cheers!

When the founding fathers wrote many of the historical documents, like the US Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence, they used ideas that they learned through the study of philosophy.
Philosophical ideas are the basis of great ideas. And we are desperately lacking the great ideas. We possess a tremendous amount of potential; we lack the leadership to use it.

Some people enjoy expanding their mind and opening themselves to new thoughts.
To ask why, is to be alive.
